This is a African legend that I have a 'like' for. You will find little info on Her on the net and most of it has the legend changed very much, my info is what I have been taught by some of the local people here.

Modadji (Prounounced- Mod-dad-shie) was the young daughter of the King from a tribe in the parts we know as Zimbabwe today. The tribe is said to have 'the secret' to make rain. Modadji fell in love with a man that came to 'buy' rain regularly from their tribe, but her dad arranged her a wedding with a much older man that she have never even spoke to but has seen him and his family and she knew that a very hard life was to come from this man. The night before the wedding Modadji gathered her servants and left the tribe to go as far away as possible. She took the secret of making rain with her and went to settle in Mapumalanga near the North coast of South Africa. There she still lives today, making rain for everyone and everything's nurishment for no cost at all. Every +-100 years it is known that Some parts of SA suffer a severe draught and that is because the old modadji has died and the young Modadji that is born from the old Rain Queen and her powers are still to weak to give everyone the rain. Modadji is still waiting for the man that she fell in love with to come and find her and only he knows where she hide's.
If this meeting is ever to take place people fear that Modadji will be so happy that she blesses the earth with to much rain like her mother had done when she met Modadji's dad, the king, and the earth will be flooded again.

If you don't understand anything, please ask and I'll try to explain, had to translate this through three languages to get it into english so it might me muddled.

Thanks for sharing with us!! I'm afraid I don't know as much as I would like about differing cultures. I value all the tidbits I can get. Keep them coming!!
